Short version.
Copio is beta software. What it can capture depends on what each operating system allows. OTP detection is a convenience, not a security control. Nothing on this site is legal, financial or professional advice. Keep your recovery key safe and keep independent backups.
1. Beta software
Copio is an internal testing build. It is unfinished, it will change, and it may lose data despite reasonable safeguards. It is provided on an as-available basis under the beta terms. Do not use it as the only copy of anything you cannot afford to lose, and do not rely on it for emergency, medical, financial or safety-critical communication.
2. Clipboard capture limits
Every operating system limits what a clipboard app may see. Copio works inside those limits and does not try to get around them, so some of what you copy will not be captured.
- iPhone and iPad: iOS does not let an app read the clipboard in the background. Copio captures through the app itself, the Share sheet and Copio Keyboard, which does not request Full Access. Something you copy while Copio is not open is captured only when you bring it to Copio.
- Android: background clipboard access is restricted, so Copio uses an explicit foreground flow, the optional Copio Keyboard and an optional accessibility-assisted quick-paste control. The accessibility service never reads the text of a field.
- Mac: Copio watches the pasteboard only while it is running. Content another app marks as concealed, such as a password copied from a password manager, is deliberately skipped. Direct paste needs the Accessibility permission you grant in System Settings.
- Browser extension: the extension acts only when you click it or use its shortcut. It does not read pages on its own.
- Rules: exclusion rules, expiry rules and OTP detection are pattern matches. A pattern can miss. Check before you rely on a rule to keep something off the server.
3. One-time passwords
Copio recognises many one-time passwords from Indian senders, shows them large with a countdown, keeps them on the device that saw them, never syncs them and deletes them after three minutes. That is a convenience for pasting a code you just received. It is not an authenticator, a password manager or a security control, and it has limits:
- Detection is heuristic. A code may be missed and treated as ordinary text, or ordinary text may be treated as a code.
- The operating system's own clipboard is outside Copio's control. Other apps with clipboard access may still read a code until the system clears it.
- A code you paste into the wrong place is still your responsibility. Never share a one-time password with anyone, including anyone claiming to be from Big Helpers.
- The only codes Copio ever sends you are its own email and SMS verification codes, and the only place to type them is inside Copio.
4. What sync reveals
When sync is on, the server stores encrypted clips it cannot open, plus the metadata listed in section 3 of the privacy notice. One item deserves repeating: the one-way integrity fingerprint of a clip is not a key, but the fingerprint of very common text could in principle be guessed by comparison. Keep anything that must never leave a device local, with an exclusion rule.
5. No legal, financial or professional advice
Pages on this site, including the blog, explain how Copio works and summarise laws such as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 as we understand them. They are general information, written for a product, not legal advice, and they may be out of date the day after they are written. Do not act on them without your own professional advice. Nothing here is investment, tax or accounting advice, and Big Helpers is not a licensed adviser of any kind. Prices on the pricing page are information; in the current beta they are not an offer for sale.
6. Third parties and names
Razorpay, Apple, Google, MSG91 and the browsers Copio runs in provide their services under their own terms and privacy notices, which we do not control. Product and company names on this site belong to their owners and are used only to describe how Copio works. Their use does not mean those companies endorse Copio.
7. Recovery and loss
Copio is zero-knowledge. Big Helpers never holds your vault key, your recovery key, your device PIN or your backup passphrase. If you lose every paired device and your recovery key, nobody can recover the vault, and no amount of support can change that. Store your recovery key away from your devices and keep a .copio-backup file somewhere safe. The security page explains why.
8. Limits on liability
To the extent Indian law permits, Copio and this site are provided without a promise that they will be uninterrupted, complete, accurate or error-free, and Big Helpers is not liable for loss that follows from relying on them. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes a right or a liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here narrows your rights under the DPDP Act, 2023 or the privacy notice.
